Aguinaldo Shrine
The Aguinaldo ShrineI enjoyed my visit to the Aguinaldo Shrine yesterday, birthplace and home of General Emilio Aguinaldo. Mommy said that the town of Kawit played an important role in the Philippines political history. The proclamation of the Republic of the Philippines was made in this town on the balcony of the home of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo. It was in this house where the Philippine flag was first unfurled in June 12, 1898. And Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo became the first President of the Philippine Republic.
The Shrine is located in Kawit (which literally means hook-after the “hook” of land it is located on). The Aguinaldo Shrine opens 8 am - 5pm daily. There is no entrance fee but you may make a donation.
